October is in full swing and our school Cross Country Day is Friday, October 22, 2021 at St. Marguerite d’Youville (around the perimeter of the school). As you may already know, there will not be an area cross country meet at Bruce’s Mill this year due to the COVID-19 restrictions. Students in Grades 4-8 have been working hard in training to increase their stamina and endurance. The perseverance required to build these skills is an essential quality for success in life. Since there will not be placements awarded at the finish line, the focus this year is on how each athlete feels upon completing their run and recognizing the progress and gains they have made since the start of their training. Junior classes will be running beginning at 1:10 p.m. and Intermediate classes will be running after the Juniors, beginning at approximately 1:45 p.m. Here are the distances that each grade will run: Grade 4 – 1 km; Grade 5 – 1.5 km; Grade 6 – 2 km; Grade 7 – 2.5 km; Grade 8 – 3 km. We look forward to a fun day to showcase student efforts and to boost school spirit! Our rain day is set for Monday, October 25, 2021. Thank-you to Ms. Rinella for organizing, as well as to Mme. Cozza, Ms. Lisi and Ms. Mittone for preparing our students.
