French Immersion programs are designed to provide non-francophone children with a high degree of proficiency in the French language. While any exposure to a second language is beneficial, French Immersion broadens and deepens that exposure. In addition to its excellent English program, St. Marguerite d’Youville C.E.S. offers an Early French Immersion Program. The September 2024 online application process for French Immersion will be open as of Thursday, November 30, 2023 (online application available from November 30 to January 19, 2024 at www.ycdsb.ca). If a lottery is required, this will take place on Thursday, January 25, 2024 at 5:00 p.m. at St. Marguerite d’Youville. Parents/Guardians will receive notification via email by Thursday, February 1, 2024 and will have until Thursday, February 8, 2024 to accept. A parent information night will be held on Wednesday, November 29 at 7:00 p.m. in the school library to inform parents/guardians about our Grade 1 French Immersion Program. Transportation will be provided to French Immersion Students living within St. Marguerite d’Youville’s French Immersion Boundary. Students in Grades 1-3, residing 1.2 km beyond the school and within the St. Marguerite d’Youville French Immersion boundary will receive transportation. Students in Grades 4-8, who live beyond 1.6 km and live within the French Immersion transportation boundary will receive transportation. Students are required to walk a short distance to and from centralized bus stops.
