In support of the Richmond Hill Food Bank, St. Marguerite d’Youville will once again be participating in its annual Thanksgiving Food Drive to provide temporary emergency food assistance to individuals and families in need. The Richmond Hill Food Bank serves over 1,300 individuals each month and past donations have greatly assisted them in meeting this need. From Wednesday, September 20 to Wednesday, October 4, we will be collecting non-perishable food items. A list of urgently needed food items include:
– Toilet Paper and Shampoo;
– Pudding and Fruit Cups;
– Crackers and Granola Bars;
– Kraft Dinner;
– Small Bags of Rice;
– Baking, Cake and Muffin Mix;
– Jello, Flour and Sugar;
– Tetra Drinking Boxes (Apple, Fruit Punch and Orange);
– Canned Tomatoes and Kidney Beans;
– Mustard, Ketchup, Barbeque Sauce and Salad Dressings.
From Monday, September 25 to Friday, October 6, St. Marguerite d’Youville will be participating in the Saint Vincent de Paul Winter Coat Drive. For over 15 years, the St. Vincent de Paul Society has been organizing this initiative to help families in York Region who struggle to make ends meet. For many families, it is difficult to buy the clothing that is needed to stay warm when the freezing temperatures arrive. We are asking students, if possible, to bring in gently used winter coats that are no longer needed in your families. If you are able to donate, please ensure all coats are brought to the school no later than Friday, October 6 (coats will not be accepted after this date).
As always, thank you to the entire community for your continued support and generosity in supporting those in our community who are in need.
