French Immersion programs are designed to provide non-francophone children with a high degree of proficiency in the French language. While any exposure to a second language is beneficial, French Immersion broadens and deepens that exposure. In addition to its excellent English program, St. Marguerite d’Youville C.E.S. offers an Early French Immersion Program. The September 2023 online application process for French Immersion will be open as of Thursday, November 24, 2022 (online application available from November 24 to January 20, 2023 at www.ycdsb.ca). If a lottery is required, this will take place on Thursday, January 26, 2023 at 5:00 p.m. via Google Meet. Parents/Guardians will receive notification via email by Wednesday, February 1, 2023 and will have until Wednesday, February 8, 2023 to accept.
A parent information night will be held on Thursday, November 24 at 7:00 p.m. in the school library to inform parents/guardians about our Grade 1 French Immersion Program. Transportation will be provided to French Immersion Students living within St. Marguerite d’Youville’s French Immersion Boundary. Students in Grades 1-3, residing 1.2 km beyond the school and within the French Immersion boundary will receive transportation. Students in Grades 4-8, who live beyond 1.6 km and live within the French Immersion transportation boundary will receive transportation. Students are required to walk a short distance to and from centralized bus stops.
