French Immersion programs are designed to provide non-francophone children with a high degree of proficiency in the French language. While any exposure to a second language is beneficial, French Immersion broadens and deepens that exposure. In addition to its excellent English program, St. Marguerite d’Youville C.E.S. offers an Early French Immersion Program. The September 2022 online application process for French Immersion will be open as of Friday, December 3, 2021 at 7:00 p.m. (online application available from December 3 to January 21, 2022 at www.ycdsb.ca). If a lottery is required, this will take place on Thursday, January 27, 2022 at 5:00 p.m. via Google Meet. Parents/Guardians will receive notification letters by Friday, February 4, 2022 and will have until Friday, February 11, 2022 to accept. A parent information night will be held on Tuesday, November 23 at 7:00 p.m. via Google Meet to inform parents/guardians about our Grade 1 French Immersion Program. To register for the information session, please click the link and fill out the Google Form. The form will close Monday, November 22 at 3:00 p.m. Once all registrations for the information session have been received, parents/guardians will receive a Google Meet link in their provided email.
Transportation will be provided to French Immersion Students living within St. Marguerite d’Youville’s French Immersion Boundary. Students in Grades 1-3, residing 1.2 km beyond the school and within the French Immersion boundary will receive transportation. Students in Grades 4-8, who live beyond 1.6 km and live within the French Immersion transportation boundary will receive transportation. Students are required to walk a short distance to and from centralized bus stops.
