Terry Fox is a Canadian icon and hero. He is an inspiration to many people because of his example of perseverance, strength and courage. Terry Fox ran 3,000 miles on one leg to raise awareness and funds for cancer research. As is tradition, the staff and students of St. Marguerite d’Youville will walk in memory of Terry Fox, weather permitting, on Tuesday, September 29 (the rain date is Wednesday, September 30). For the walk, for safety reasons, students are to wear their running shoes or appropriate outdoor walking shoes. Students will participate in the walk with their own cohort. Teachers will be taking their students out in assigned time blocks throughout the day and will walk for approximately 20-40 minutes around the school yard perimeter. We are encouraging parents to donate online at terryfox.org. Students are encouraged to wear red and white on Tuesday in support of Terry Fox, an outstanding Canadian role model!
