All students interested in the French Immersion Program at St. Marguerite d’Youville must apply online by completing and submitting the YCDSB French Immersion online application form at www.ycdsb.ca by January 24, 2020. French Immersion programs are designed to provide non-francophone children with a high degree of proficiency in the French language. Students currently in Senior Kindergarten at St. Marguerite d’Youville and siblings of students in French Immersion Programs must also apply online to indicate interest. Following January 24, 2020, applications received by that date will be prioritized as follows:
Siblings of students presently in the French Immersion program;
Students within the school’s French Immersion boundary;
Students outside of the French Immersion boundary but within York Region;
Students from outside York Region.
If the number of applications exceeds the number of available openings, a public lottery process will be conducted at St. Marguerite d’Youville, in the school library at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday, January 30, 2020. Approved applicants will be notified by the school between January 31 and February 7. Parents must indicate acceptance of placement by completing required forms no later than Friday, February 14, 2020. Students who apply following January 24, 2020 will be placed on the bottom of each tier of the lottery waitlist, if one is needed. All applications after January 24, 2020 will be accepted at the home schools.
